Guests toasting with cocktails at a mixology party at the Institute of Culinary Education

Mixology, Wine & Beer Events

ICE has a long roster of wine, beer and spirits experts to teach you and your guests tricks of the bar trade. Learn how to shake and stir a martini (hint: James Bond may not have always been right) and which wine pairs best with a NY strip steak (spoiler: it’s not always that big, juicy red you’re used to). Get shaking now.

Classic Mixology

CheeseGrapesBreadCropped.jpgOur events begin with a 30-minute reception complete with a plentiful cheese platter alongside wine, beer and specialty cocktails from the bar. This is followed by a 90-minute hands-on lesson that focuses on the shaking and mixing basics, from the importance of using fresh juices to what tools are needed for a seamlessly stocked bar at home. Our expert mixologists will explain what makes the perfect cocktail, and when you’re ready to shake and stir, your group will have the opportunity to make and sample seven craft cocktails. Non-alcoholic variations can be provided. Book a mixology event.

Culinary Mixology

This package will take you into the kitchen for infused syrups and charred garnishes. During this two-hour event, you’ll learn how to incorporate these flavors into various spirits. One of our favorite pairings is charred shishito peppers and smooth gin in the opal basil cocktail. Bottoms up! Book a mixer.

Wine, Beer and Spirits Events

ICE's two-hour wine, beer, whiskey or bourbon tasting events begin with a hearty cheese platter and an aperitif appropriate to your theme. Your instructor will then invite you to sit down for a tasting focused on how to evaluate beverages for quality, taste and style. Seven varieties will be sampled and discussed. Tasting topics can include everything from Italian wines or Champagne to microbrews.

For a more informal event, ICE offers walk-around tastings featuring four wine or beer stations, each paired with a cheese or small bite. Ask about our blind tastings or quizzes for an interactive challenge. Schedule a sip.

Some of ICE's most popular wine and beer tasting themes include:

  • Wines Around the World
  • Old World vs New World
  • California Wines
  • Oregon Wines

  • Local Beers
